Dropping out of school is a significant problem for these young individuals as it disrupts the development of their skills and limits their prospects in the job market. The Comprehensive Scholarship Program aims to help these young people complete their secondary or high school education by providing them with a monthly scholarship over the course of a year. Additionally, it supports them in developing valuable skills for their future through various hands-on activities, including participating in the monitoring of turtles near their community.

What does the Comprehensive Scholars Program offer?
Multidisciplinary Training
The program provides scholarship recipients with the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills in various disciplines related to nature conservation, including biology, ecology, environmental sciences, and scientific outreach.
Practical Experience
Bursaries engage in conservation and species monitoring projects, allowing them to gain hands-on field experience and directly contribute to biodiversity protection.
Social Commitment
The program promotes social commitment by involving the scholarship recipients in outreach and environmental education activities, helping them convey the importance of nature conservation to the community and raise awareness about this issue.
How it works?
Every year, we publish a call for applications in the rural communities where we conduct long-term turtle monitoring to join the Scholarship Program.
We provide a questionnaire to high school students interested in joining the program.
Based on the questionnaire responses and a visit to the family of the interested youth, we select the students who will join the Scholarship Program.
Once a week, the scholarship recipients go out with the local leader to monitor the turtles or engage in some other type of activity.
At the end of each month, they receive the scholarship to support their studies.
After one year, upon completing their participation in the Program, the students give a talk or presentation about what they learned from monitoring turtles at a school in their community.
